Rangoli project

| The Diwali in London team are proud to be associated with GLA, and for the
very first time, a floor rangoli will go on display for 3 weeks at the
Mayor of London's office during the Diwali season. |

Rangoli patterns are a traditional art orm where colourful designs are
drawn on the path or entrances of houses to welcome guests during the
Festival of Lights. |
| This year children from Schools across North London and community centres
were invited to participate in a floor rangoli which will be presented to
the Mayor of London's office on Monday 22nd October, 2007 at 4.00pm. |

Leena Pattni, an artist from Harrow has led this exciting visual arts
project which brought together many Hindu groups to work over 3 weeks to
prepare the 108 pallets which consists of peacock, lamps, elephants and
flower motifs. The rangoli will be displayed at the base of the City Hall,
so visitors can admire it coming down the spiral walkway. |

The rangoli will be on display at the City Hall, Mayor of London's office
until Thursday 8th November, 2007 and is open to the public. |
